DVD MOVIE SYNOPSIS:

Martial arts titans Jackie Chan (The Forbidden Kingdom, Rush Hour) and Michelle Yeoh (The Mummy 3, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) go undercover to infiltrate the region's most nefarious drug ring in the 2-Disc Ultimate Edition of SUPERCOP, available on 2 Disc DVD January 13th from Genius Products and The Weinstein Company. The latest entry in the celebrated Dragon Dynasty line of adrenaline-fueled martial arts films, SUPERCOP tells the story of a Hong Kong police officer with a knack for improvisation who meets a beautiful but strait-laced Chinese agent and teams up with her in order to bring down the largest drug syndicate in the Pacific Rim. Along the way, they are regularly forced to unleash their spectacular arsenal of exciting, high-flying kung fu. Directed by Stanley Tong and co-starring Maggie Cheung (Jet Li's Hero), the historic success of SUPERCOP in theatres paved the way for a new wave of Asian action films and heroes in the United States. Regarded as one of Jackie Chan's most beloved films, SUPERCOP has been lauded as a sharp "mix of stunts, martial arts and Chan's own brand of breathtaking slapstick comedy" (Film.com). The film also garnered Hong Kong Film Award nominations for Best Actor (Chan) and Best Action Choreography.

Commentary By Hong Kong Cinema Expert Bey Logan: Bey Logan seems to genuinely enjoy sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of Hong Kong action films in this rapid-fire audio track that covers...oh, let's just say EVERYTHING about Jackie Chan and Police Story 3 (AKA Supercop). Almost too much information to absorb in a single viewing (so watch it twice!).

Flying High:  An Exclusive Interview With Star Jackie Chan: Jackie talks about his success in police action movies, his experience working with different directors, his frustrations over American studio tampering, and just what goes into making a "Jackie Chan" movie. The highlight is Jackie explaining the making of his incredible helicopter stunt sequence in Supercop. Runs apx 19 minutes.

Dancing With Death:  An Interview With Leading Lady Michelle Yeoh: Michelle talks about her background in ballet dancing, working with Jackie Chan, and what it's like to be an actress doing her own stunts in an action film. Runs apx 23 minutes.

The Stuntmaster General:  An Exclusive Interview With Director Stanley Tong: The director of Supercop, as well as four other Jackie Chan films, talks about working with Jackie and about what goes into filming the many thrilling stunt sequences in the film. Runs apx 20 minutes.

The Fall Guy:  An Exclusive Interview With Co-Star And Jackie Chan Bodyguard And Training Partner Ken Lo: An extremely informative and entertaining interview! Ken Lo discusses working with Jackie Chan for nearly 20 years (interviewed in 2005(?)), and relates a wealth of great background on the making of Supercop. Runs apx 22 minutes.

A.J.'s Final Words: A quality copy of the film and informative, well presented 'making of' features. This is what I'm talking about when I say THEY GOT IT RIGHT! Taken together, the interviews here are as good as any 'making of' documentary around, and the movie and its audio commentary are both first rate. Sure, it may appear skimpy for a 2-disc set, but don't let the absence of crummy featurettes and needless fluff cloud your mind! I'll trade quantity for quality any day! Supercop rules.
